My shop is in the old KWNO transmitter building in Winona, Minnesota. The station recently moved to a new diplexed site with KAGE in Winona. This building and tower were built in 1948 to house KWNO AM and KWNO FM. KWNO FM was ahead of it's time as there were very few FM radios in the 1950s. KWNO-FM left the air in the late 1950s. This tower was made by Truscon Steel and it is 400 feet tall. I'm still using this building but the tower came down in September 2011. This site is on a hill overlooking Winona which is about 500 feet below.
